The emirate of Abu Dhabi is witnessing an economic shift based on an ambitious vision for a more open, responsive and interactive economy, stressed today General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

"Filled with confidence and ambition, we are moving ahead and into the future in accordance with the vision of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of promoting the status of the UAE global stage, making the economic environment in Abu Dhabi the best option for investors through the development of infrastructure, building specialized industrial zones as well as creating an environment that is attractive to foreign investments", he added.

Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of Industrial City of Abu Dhabi 2 (ICAD2).

He called for investing economic potentials through carefully planned policies as well as initiatives that ensure sustainable development and stable economic expansion.

The high-profile audience at the ceremony comprised the Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Chairman of Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp) and other senior officials.

"The inauguration of ICAD2 comes in line with guidelines of the prudent leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for strengthening the local economy with additional boosts that are in harmony with the aspiration of the country and its economic development and urban development boom", added Sheikh Mohammed.

He made a field tour of ICAD2 where he was briefed by officials on the components of the project which is just the second of many similar planned developments in Abu Dhabi.

ICAD2 has been built on an area of 10 sq km in Musaffah, some 30 kilometers from Abu Dhabi city center.

Investments in ICAD2 amount to AED 9 billions and investors will be offered a business-friendly environment equipped with integrated state-of-the-art infrastructure and services.

In a statement, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Chairman of Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), thanked Sheikh Mohammed for sponsoring the ceremony. He said Sheikh Mohammed's inauguration of the ICAD 2 reflects his strong support for everything that aims at giving a boost to the national economy, adding that it also reflects his commitment to see the ZonesCorp taking its proper place to create an economic and industrial environment that is based on sound footing and enjoying stable and safe investment climate and world class infrastructure.

He said the occasion is not only to celebrate the inauguration of ICAD 2 but also to launch ICAD 3, which will provide another 12 square kilometer of specialized industrial area, adding that industrial projects will be built in that zone within 18 months in partnership between the public and private sectors.
