ABU DHABI: The Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones, ZonesCorp, has organised, in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, the “Faster’s Iftar” (Iftar Sa’im) initiative at Al Hameem labour city, as part of its ongoing efforts to support charitable projects and community initiatives, as well as promoting the principles of giving and the spirit of social solidarity during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Throughout Ramadan, approximately 1,000 Iftar meals are being distributed per day in Al Hameem labour city, in the biggest Ramadan tent in Abu Dhabi. This initiative is being supervised by both organisations with the aim of promoting the principles of giving in the Islamic religion during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Saeed Issa Al Khaili, Acting Chief Executive Officer for ZonesCorp, said: “The ‘Faster’s Iftar’ initiative is considered one of the most important initiatives related to human rights performed by ZonesCorp and is now in its 11th year. One of the pillars of Islam calls for human solidarity and charity, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan. As such, one of the main objectives of this programme is to maintain dignity by providing aid to the needy.”

Khadem Sawayeh Al Muhairi, Executive Director for labour services at ZonesCorp, said: “The ‘Faster’s Iftar’ initiative is primarily aimed at improving living standards in the labour areas, following the founding principles of the UAE society established by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”

He added, “The programme targets the category of workers who are in dire need of attention and care. We look forward to further developing our collaboration with the ERC.”
